i hate visiting myspace pages but this is one of the best uses i’ve seen. stick a browser-sized (choose your resolution…whatever’s cool or pop at the time) graphic to post at the top.

didn’t go to church last month.

didn’t go to church last year.

did go to cool hunting. for church.

I can’t wait. It’s been some time since I’ve seen these guys. The best was definitely the small show at the international festival. The warehouse won’t come close pero asi es la vida no. We could take a trip to austin’s zona rosa on Thursday night and see them twice. A much better venue by far than the warehouse.

recently subscribed to goog magazinemagazine. what can i say. it’s good.

not quite the sun or killing the buddha, perhaps, but good in its own particular way, i guess.

killing the buddha recently received a facelift via wordpress but you can still visit the old site and archives here. they’re good.

not reading much good these days. or bad, for that matter.

not reading much at all.

not sure if that’s good or bad.

it’s the weekend and church is not on the agenda. hasn’t been for quite some time. not sure that’s good or bad.

not sure there is a good or bad.

the cool winter breeze is good. this house on fairbanks has been good. my best friend lina is definitely good. and so is frida and bukz, of course.

celebrated lina’s birthday by going to see regina spektor at the warehouse. a good show.

looking forward to seeing zechs again there soon and then cafe tacuba in december.

a cool breeze, a nice abode, a best friend, a funny dog, a quirky cat and some good sounds…

…is plenty good for me.

houston is good. bbq. not much time to write these days. not good.

zechs and all in your head…free show at boondocks.

…began my return to houston with some music by all in your head. houston music has been good. hollywoodblack on walters wasn’t at all bad last night…

…music is good…and hTown is definitely the best place to soak it up in texas.

sat with lina at the catalina cafe on washington avenue. despite the gentri-effects going on all around, this strip still so eerily reminds me of frogtown in st. paul.

funny how places and people do that. like shared, rented out souls.

i sat and thought of late afternoons years ago, when my late great uncle would sit and elegantly roll his buglers and eloquently state, “…only doing time…jus killin time..” as he admired every finished piece…

then the repeated sounds of townes van zandt in a place that seemed so non-townes-ian added to the twists in my mind. townes preferred cough syrup not coffee. a houston native, of course.

still wondering what brought me back here.

While Austin bribes Hollywood with weed and Dallas starves itself to impress New York, Houston just slams another shot, orders another cheeseburger and lets it all hang out in true Third Coast style. Somewhere, the drunken ghost of Sam Houston is smiling.

…pues si.

tonight…it’s theoretical thursdays with the free radicals at notsuoh and i think i just might have myself a texas prairie fire…

the houston heat seems to be taking it’s time to fully arrive and that’s ok by me. the rain is beautiful.

it hasn’t taken me long to remember why i love this city. the people, the diversity, the music…it’s not just that it’s all here, it’s how it all relates and coexists.

after walking out of the continental club last thursday, we were fortunate enough to catch the end of the fuga show. they were playing with the umbrella man (former skarnales bass player). wish we would’ve known earlier. soy fuguista! no doubt. then last night we stumbled upon all in your head. insanely beautiful. its a houston sound. a good sound.
