i first discovered alejandro via his thirteen years and with these hands albums that i stumbled upon at a used cd shop in minneapolis.

i bought both and was hooked.

when i arrived in houston, i quickly purchased the more miles than money anthology. my grandmother had just passed away and i needed music that sounded as real as possible. written in blood as my good friend nietzsche would say.

although i did miss bruce cockburn at the duck when i first arrived to houston (that chance will never come again again said the owner—one can’t live in regret), i did get to see alejandro live there about five times.

i celebrated my birthday there on the bourbonitis blues tour with my friend sue croak. i had a really cool conversation with the cello player in the dart room after the concert. he wasn’t too crazy about the cold treatment they received in minneapolis from the jayhawks, who seemed to be ignorant of alejandro’s place in music history.

it was always a beautiful acoustic set when they played at the duck.

and now, i’m living in alejandro’s hometown of austin and he’s on his “real animal” tour in where according to some critic he sounds, “…joyously saved, if a little cursed…”

don’t we all.

hope we get there in time.

..as if i need a sign from god…
sagmeister

…the same guy that said, “having guts always looks out for me”

…and “trying to look good limits my life”

….and finally, “assuming is stifling”

with a little glasser thrown in…this video is good. especially if you missed church last sunday.

radio zumbido

listening to radio zumbido and tinkering with vuvox. i created the following with a flickr feed in less than a minute.

not much complexity there, i know (i should be working on actionscript/javascript right now…and even that isn’t complex at all compared to the big boys’ work of java, etc.) but regardless, it is a cool, new tool and it is a very good tool to introduce to educators who don’t want to touch any code, whatsoever.

tools like vuvox and animoto are changing the landscape and challenging coders and designers to improve their tool set immensely fast. some cool stuff coming out.

didn’t go to church last month.

didn’t go to church last year.

did go to cool hunting. for church.

or something of the sort.

I can’t wait. It’s been some time since I’ve seen these guys. The best was definitely the small show at the international festival. The warehouse won’t come close pero asi es la vida no. We could take a trip to austin’s zona rosa on Thursday night and see them twice. A much better venue by far than the warehouse.

recently subscribed to goog magazinemagazine. what can i say. it’s good.

not quite the sun or killing the buddha, perhaps, but good in its own particular way, i guess.

killing the buddha recently received a facelift via wordpress but you can still visit the old site and archives here. they’re good.

not reading much good these days. or bad, for that matter.

not reading much at all.

not sure if that’s good or bad.

it’s the weekend and church is not on the agenda. hasn’t been for quite some time. not sure that’s good or bad.

not sure there is a good or bad.

the cool winter breeze is good. this house on fairbanks has been good. my best friend lina is definitely good. and so is frida and bukz, of course.

celebrated lina’s birthday by going to see regina spektor at the warehouse. a good show.

looking forward to seeing zechs again there soon and then cafe tacuba in december.

a cool breeze, a nice abode, a best friend, a funny dog, a quirky cat and some good sounds…

…is plenty good for me.
