good night last night. not bad for a tuesday night. some good red cat jazz and a funky band with a really good cello player at deans. this is houston. on tuesday. not bad. there’d be no way i’d get this on a saturday night in the valley. music makes the transition good.
still settling into the house. had our first guests at our new casita on sunday night. i love it. bbq’ed some pepper dijon burgers with some mango shrimp for appetizers and good wine. not bad. they arrived at 7 and left at 1, very content. not bad for our first attempt at hosts at our new little abode.
haven’t made time to write or choose an old poem to post on pzalabraz. perhaps soon. want to find a rhythm for my new houston life. looking fwd to visiting the zen center in july. learn to show up, sit down and shut up. not bad for spiritual practice.

…just returned to hTown for good. or for now, at least. i moved back here with my partner, sol. we’re enjoying the city. im not new to hTown but it is a bit of a transition from small town south texas. lots to unpack, poems to post, songs to listen to, books to read and a good life to live.
…arrived last week and took a trek to austin to take in the good sounds of manu chao. exquisite. we’ve enjoyed some very good muzik in the last few months.
the house we’ve moved into is beautiful. small and quaint. nice backyard. just what we need.
i’m looking forward to this summer. some time to read, write and post some poems on pzalabraz. subscribe to the sun. read some coelho. visit specs. rothko chapel. memorial park. drive through allen parkway in the early evenings. houston’s not bad. the gems take some time to find, but they’re here. it is a bit loud, unkempt, chaotic, fast and not quite clean. perhaps that’s why i like it or feel somewhat at home.
